The Sustainable Development Festival and ASviS

On May 22nd 2017 the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development (Alleanza Italiana per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile - ASviS) launched the first Sustainable Development Festival (Festival dello Sviluppo Sostenibile) which ran for 17 days and featured over 200 events throughout the country. The Festival was the first of its kind in Italy and in the world: more than 160 civil society organisations and over 60 Italian universities took part in awareness-raising campaigns and contributed by launching their own events and initiatives, which spread across the peninsula, North through South.

The events included panels, fireside chats, flashmobs, documentary screenings and workshops. The Festival aimed at drawing attention to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and promoting awarenss about the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda at all levels.

The Alliance is the largest Italian network dedicated to sustainable development. It was established in February 2016 with the aim of disseminating a culture of sustainability across the Italian society and promoting best practices at government, institutions and business levels.
